Apex Agritech was a project I worked on in a collaborative design class. Our class was divided into teams of about 15 students, representing six different majors. The challenge was to develop an innovative new product and present it to a panel of judges, who then selected a winning group.

Our team conceptualized an automated chicken watering system that could be controlled via a mobile app and operate for up to two weeks without requiring a visit to the coop. To bring our idea to life, we established Apex Agritech, a company envisioned as a leader in agricultural technology with a diverse range of products.

As the lead designer for the project, I developed the company’s visual identity from the ground up. This included designing the logo, creating a cohesive brand system with custom patterns, color palettes, and typography, and producing various stationery items to support the brand. I also designed the app interface, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience that aligned with our brand vision.

App Design:

The goal of the app was to develop a simple, user-friendly design that is accessible to all ages. Since the automated watering system will likely be used by older farmers, we determined that this approach was the most effective.

The app allows users to effortlessly manage water levels and temperature while also supporting multiple devices.

This project was a turning point in my growth as a designer. It taught me valuable lessons, especially how to lead within a collaborative team. Working with students from multiple disciplines presented challenges that required me to guide the design team while ensuring smooth collaboration with the rest. We faced several obstacles that demanded quick thinking, adaptability, and extra effort to overcome. This experience also helped me build confidence in public speaking, which contributed to our team securing third place in the competition.
